Frequently Asked Questions
What is Low-Level Laser Therapy? Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) is the use of low intensity photonic energy as a treatment modality. Photonic stimuli excite the body’s cells infusing them with energy, with the three primary reactions being, reduction of inflammation, cell regeneration, and increased blood flow.
What are the benefits of Low-Laser Therapy? LLLT is a non-invasive, fast and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce pain, reduce edema, and promote healing.
Is it Safe? Yes! LLLT has been in use for over 20 years around the world. Hundreds of clinical studies and scientific papers have documented the effectiveness and safety of this therapy. The FDA has cleared this laser device for use in the United States. The Erchonia lasers have received 15 of the 17 FDA clearances in existence for Low-Level Laser Therapy.
How long does a treatment take? It may last as little as 5 minutes or as long as 20 minutes. The total number of treatments is generally 8-15 depending upon many factors - such as chronicity, type of tissue that needs to be healed, and level of severity - which will be evaluated by Dr. Parker. It is important to remember that an immediate relief of pain does not mean the condition is fully healed. While Low-Level Laser Therapy is beneficial on it's own, it pairs very well with chiropractic adjustments to help you not only feel better but your body to heal as well.
When will I feel results? The actual effect of laser therapy begins at the time of treatment, but generally only becomes noticeable several hours after the treatment. Some patients will feel relief of pain and experience an increased range of motion right away. If the condition being treated is chronic and severe, it may take several treatment sessions to produce a significant noticeable result.
Are the results long-lasting? Laser therapy is about producing a healing effect in the cells and structures of the body. It is actually influencing your body to speed up and strengthen the healing process. The effect of laser therapy is not just temporary relief, it is cumulative over time, so the more treatments you have, the stronger and more permanent the effect. Because laser light interacts with the cells and a natural healing process is generated, the results are quite long lasting. In many cases, the problem may be permanently resolved.
What does Low-Level Laser Therapy feel like? Most people feel nothing at all during the treatment session. Some patients will feel slight tingling sensation brought on by the increased blood flow to the area being treated. Since this laser produces no heat, no burning sensation or warmth from the device can be felt. Low Level Lasers are sometimes referred to as Cold Lasers.
What clinical studies have been conducted using low-level laser? Erchonia has sponsored numerous clinical trials and continues to promote low-level laser as a modality through ongoing research. To see the completed study results and the on-going study progress, visits

Erchonia Corporation develops, designs, and manufactures devices in accordance to both FDA and International Standards for Medical Device Quality Standards. Prior to release to production, finished devices are tested to Medical Safety Standards for Laser Controls, EMC, and Safety.
Are there any complications to the treatments? There are no known and/or published adverse effects of LLLT.
